Tuition prices are increasing due to high university operating costs, not a lack of state funding. There must be measures in place that provide incentives for universities to keep these costs as low as possible. The only way to achieve this is to infuse free-market principles into a higher education system that severely lacks fiscal discipline.

Prayers Go Out to Marcus Luttrell

As many of you know, Governor Rick Perry addressed the 2009 Young Conservatives of Texas Convention this past weekend in Austin, TX.  Governor Perry also brought along a very special guest to our convention, former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell.

Luttrell is the only survivor from a battle that took place in Afghanistan in 2005 as he fought for our freedom.

He also presented the Young Conservatives of Texas with a signed copy of his book, The Lone Survivor, which details his experience in Afghanistan.
