Young Conservatives of Texas to Protest Socialized Medicine with a “Free Government Health Clinic”

Austin, TX – The Young Conservatives of Texas will be out in full force on Wednesday, September 23rd to show the general public just exactly how healthcare will be run if Nancy Pelosi and the Democrats in Congress get their wish. Starting at 10am, YCT-UT will be out on the West Mall of the University of Texas campus running a “Free Government Health Clinic” to display just how poor the quality of healthcare will become if H.B. 3200 is passed.

The group plans to use their “Government Health Clinic” to provide “Check-ups” for anybody passing by. Because surgery will no longer be a cost efficient option under a government run system, they will pass out “Placebex”, a faux painkiller than serves as a cheap alternative. The students also plan to pass out apples for “preventative measures”, because as the YCT-UT Chairman Dustin Matocha says, “An apple a day keeps ObamaCare away.”

The third segment of their protest will involve political theater, as members of the Young Conservatives will “play dead” in the middle of the West Mall to represent the victims of Socialized Health Care in foreign countries. At various times throughout the protest, the group will read the story of another victim of Socialized Health Care and how they might have lived under a free market competitive system.

“There are much smarter and more effective ways to improve our healthcare system than turning to the government to run it like another bureaucracy,” says Matocha. “Allowing people to purchase insurance across state lines, pay into their own personal Health Savings Accounts, and purchase only the amount of coverage they want is a great step in the right direction.”

The Young Conservatives of Texas is a non-partisan grassroots organization dedicated to promoting conservative values throughout the great State of Texas. The organization has chapters on campuses throughout the state, and it also produces the oldest and most prestigious ratings of the Texas legislators’ voting records.
