YCT Call on Hopson to Tell the Truth About His Liberal Voting Record

Press Releases / November 6, 2009

The Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT), a non-partisan grassroots organization, which produces the oldest legislative ratings in the state of Texas, are calling on State Representative Chuck Hopson to tell the truth about his liberal voting record and are opposing his switch to the Republican Party.

Hopson is projected to have a legislative rating of 34 for the 81st Texas Legislative Session in the YCT Legislative Ratings that are forthcoming.

Hopson’s career rating ranks him at a 39, an extremely low number and is evidence to the fact that he is not a conservative.

“We know Chuck is a wolf in sheep’s clothes, and we will let all the Republicans in District 11 know this fact before casting their vote in the primary. Now that the tide is changing in the Republican Party, we will not accept liberal democrats in Republican areas switching parties to try to find a safe harbor,” said Tony McDonald, Vice Chairman of Legislative Affairs.

YCT has chapters at the University of Texas at Austin, A&M University, Baylor University, Texas State University, the University of Texas at Dallas, Dallas Baptist University, the University of North Texas, Texas Tech University and West Texas A&M University.

YCT is a nonpartisan grassroots political organization that has been fighting for conservative values for nearly three decades in the Lone Star State.
