Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT), the most active political youth organization in Texas, announced Wednesday that they are endorsing conservative Myrna McLeroy for House District 44. The group has been providing grassroots conservative leadership across the state for more than 30 years.

“Myrna McLeroy has been a key grassroots leader for years, and we are excited she is ready to take on entrenched special-interests in the House,” said Tony McDonald, YCT Senior Vice Chairman. “We looked at the entire field, asked questions, attended forums and all signs pointed to Mrs. McLeroy.”

YCT counts half-a-dozen alumni currently in the state legislature. YCT has a history of being active in the campaign process, and gives its members opportunities to gain experience in campaigning by helping candidates the organization has endorsed.

“We are proud to support Ms. McLeroy,” said Mr. McDonald. “She is a proven conservative grassroots leader who will help move Texas in the right direction.”

Myrna McLeroy is running for the seat in Texas House District 44. The seat was vacated with the passing of the late-Rep. Edmund Kuempel. Governor Rick Perry has called for a Special Election on December 14th. House District 44 covers Wilson, Guadalupe, and Gonzales counties.

YCT, which was founded in 1980, issues the most respected ratings of the state legislature and is the only conservative group to have done so without interruption over the last 18 legislative sessions. YCT has chapters at the University of Texas at Austin, Baylor University, Texas State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, and Texas Tech University.
