WASHINGTON – For conservatives on college campuses, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed these days.

Polls show young voters leaning even more strongly liberal, and Barack Obama has gained rock-star status among college students.

So this year has occasionally been dispiriting for those like Clint Chegin, the chairman of the University of Texas chapter of Campus Conservatives.

"You can feel like you’re a dying breed," he said. "It’s harder to be a conservative on campus at school. You’ve got to be able to answer to every issue. You’ve got to be knowledgeable."
