Austin, TX — Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) announced today their endorsement of Representative Ken Paxton of Collin County for Texas Senate District 8.

“Ken Paxton has consistently been this state’s strongest conservative leader in the Texas House of Representatives,” remarked Tony McDonald, YCT Senior Vice Chairman. “As we head into a tough budgetary session, we desperately need his principled leadership in the Texas Senate.”

Ken Paxton is running for the seat being vacated by the retirement of Senator Florence Shapiro. Since his election to the state house in 2003, Ken Paxton has consistently scored among the highest legislators on YCT’s ratings of the Texas Legislature. This record has resulted in Paxton sitting atop YCT’s Historic Honor Roll, with a career score of 95. Representative Paxton also earned the top spot on their ratings of the 82nd Legislature with a 95 for the session.

YCT issues endorsements in Texas’ primary and general elections, taking into account the records of incumbents and interviews with challengers. “YCT is pleased to issue this early endorsement to Ken Paxton because of his leadership in the House and historically conservative record,” said State Chairman Jeff Morris. “He will provide a much needed conservative voice and will be a great asset to the Texas Senate.”

Ken Paxton is currently serving as State Representative in House District 70, an office he first won in 2002.  State Senate District 8 includes all or portions of Allen, Dallas, Fairview, Lucas, McKinney, Murphy, Parker, Plano, Richardson, Sachse, St. Paul, and Wylie in Collin and Dallas Counties.
