Austin, TX — Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) announced today their endorsement of Scott Sanford of McKinney for Texas House District 70 (HD 70). The seat is currently held by Rep. Ken Paxton, who is currently running for Texas Senate.
“The conservative voters of House District 70 gave us Ken Paxton, who sits atop YCT’s historic honor roll,” said Tony McDonald, YCT Senior Vice Chairman. “As Representative Paxton moves to the Senate, we know they will elect another true conservative leader, Scott Sanford, to replace him in the Texas House. We expect Sanford will continue to carry the torch and lead on issues of limited government, the right to life, and traditional values.”
Sanford is a licensed CPA and the Executive Pastor at Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen. Sanford recalls the first time he supported Representative Paxton politically: for student body president when they attended Baylor. Like YCT, Sanford is eager to see Paxton become Collin County’s next state senator.
“Scott Sanford is exactly the kind of great candidate we were expecting out of HD 70,” commented Jeff Morris, YCT State Chairman. “He will be the kind of conservative that this district and Texas need to continue the fight for conservatism in the legislature.”
“I am honored to receive the trust and endorsement of Young Conservatives of Texas. I have great respect for the values they fight for,” Sanford said in response to the endorsement. “As a state representative, I will work hard to serve Collin County to represent our community’s values. I believe my experience as a CPA, business owner, and Executive Pastor has prepared me to analyze and draft budgets, identify and cut waste, and prioritize spending.”
Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) has been promoting conservatism at universities across the Lone Star State for over three decades. The state’s most active political youth organization, YCT is composed of hundreds of members and alumni who participate in the full spectrum of politics.
