Congratulations YCT Class of 2020!
June 9, 2020
Congratulations to the graduating class of the Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT)! We are so proud of the Class of 2020 and give our utmost thanks for their dedication in advancing the conservative movement on college campuses and in Texas politics. We know they will go on to achieve great things as they become the next leaders of the Texas conservative movement. Meet a few of our graduating seniors: Sebastian Quaid is graduating from Texas State with a degree in Political Science. “Being a member of YCT has been the single greatest accomplishment of my life.I cannot wait to see what is in store for me in the future, and I am excited to see how I can use the things I’ve learned in my future endeavors.” Travis Fortune is graduating from Austin College with degrees in History and Political Science. He started a new chapter on his campus and served as the Chairman this year. His chapter’s biggest accomplishment was recruiting 15 active members in the chapter’s first year in a school of 1,400 students. “Serving as the Austin College YCT Chairman gave my life more meaning and responsibilities which have made me a better overall person.”Juliana Peceli is graduating from University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) with a degree in Political Science. She hails from Sacramento, California, and started a new YCT chapter on UIW’s campus this year. Her biggest accomplishment as a leader was engaging an uninformed and lethargic student body in politics and activism. “Bringing YCT to UIW’s campus was rewarding because I was able to witness first-hand the blooming of future political activists. The position I held as Chairman gave me the opportunity to learn about myself as a leader and how to inspire the future leaders of the chapter.” Stefan Fitting graduated from Baylor University as a University Scholar and is from Waco. As an officer and chairman of Baylor’s YCT chapter, Stefan restarted and rebuilt YCT into an active, thriving chapter. This year, Stefan organized and led YCT’s deployment to the March for Life. “YCT made the last two years of college so much more valuable for me. I made lifelong friendships and helped educate the next generation of conservative leaders. I have high expectations for the future of YCT, and I fully believe YCT can meet and surpass them.” |
Grant Hillman is graduating with a degree in History from Baylor University and hails from San Mateo, California. “Looking back on the past two years during which I have served as the Vice Chairman of Baylor’s YCT chapter, I can say with absolute confidence that Stefan Fitting and I not only did all we could to rebuild this chapter, but have taken it to unprecedented heights as well. Conservative students at Baylor that are enthusiastic about authentic conservative activism have a strong, influential outlet through which to express their views and we have given them the tools to do so.”Isaiah Mitchell is graduating with a degree in English from Trinity University. He was Trinity YCT’s chapter Chairman his junior year. In addition to doubling the membership of Trinity YCT, he is most proud of his chapter volunteering every single weekend for a whole year to get Congressman Chip Roy elected. “The YCT class of 2020 was defined by its communal grit. Their first year of college, 2016, YCT had just six chapters. As they virtually graduate, we sit at twenty-four chapters. This quadrupling would not have been possible if it was not for the dedication of this group. When faced with the choice to give up or get up, the YCT Class of 2020 chose to spearhead the YCT renaissance. Without the willingness, dedication, and leadership of each of these members, our success over the past year and a half would not have been possible. I am thankful and grateful for every one of you for choosing to dedicate your college years to our organization. We believed, so we did.“ – Manfred Wendt, Executive Director of YCT Congratulations and THANK YOU to the YCT Class of 2020! |
