AUSTIN, TEXAS — The Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT) is proud to announce our dual endorsement of Senator Mayes Middleton and Congressman Chip Roy for the office of Texas Attorney General in the 2026 election.
Both candidates have demonstrated over their careers a steadfast commitment to YCT’s founding motto (“Principles over Party”) and have worked closely with YCT in advancing the cause of limited government, strong families, educational freedom, and individual liberty. Throughout their years as legislators, they have both been exceptional models of conservative statesmen.
Why YCT Endorses Mayes Middleton
Senator Mayes Middleton has consistently scored at the top of YCT’s legislative ratings for his voting record. On YCT’s legislative scorecard, Middleton boasts a career rating of 93, including a perfect 100 in 2021 and 97 in 2019.
YCT praises Senator Middleton for championing parental rights in education, fighting for border security, protecting innocent life, and restoring accountability in government. Senator Middleton has particularly led on the issue of banning taxpayer funded lobbying, as well as protecting women’s sports and privacy, and getting prayer back in public schools. These are the qualities YCT demands of the state’s top law-enforcement officer. With his conservative track record Mayes Middleton is fully deserving of our organization’s endorsement for Attorney General.

Why YCT Endorses Chip Roy
Congressman Chip Roy has long been a stalwart of conservative principles and a friend of YCT’s mission. As highlighted in our previous endorsement of him for U.S. House GOP Conference Chair, YCT noted his “proven track record of winning tight elections while championing conservative principles and policy.”
Throughout his time in D.C., he has never bowed to the swamp and always fights for conservative principles, no matter the consequence. YCT members know Congressman Roy as a vocal advocate for constitutional limits on government power, individual liberty, and accountability in public office. His national‐level leadership on these issues gives Texans confidence that, were he to serve as Attorney General, he will bring a bold conservative agenda to the office.
