YCT Announce Endorsement Of Jim Landtroop

Press Releases / October 4, 2010

Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT), the most active political youth organization in Texas, announced Monday that they are endorsing Republican Jim Landtroop over incumbent Democrat Joe Heflin for State Representative in House District 85. The group has been providing grassroots conservative leadership across the state for more than 30 years.

“After careful consideration we believe Jim Landtroop will provide the conservative leadership needed in the Texas House,” said Tony McDonald, YCT Senior Vice Chairman for Legislative Affairs. “Our endorsement process is thorough, and involves detailed research, in-depth questionnaires and interviews, and the approval of our Executive Board. We have determined without question Jim Landtroop is the only real conservative in the race.”

Landtroop said, “It is very exciting to see the next generation of conservative leaders engaged in the political process, and humbling to have their support. On top of the endorsement, this group is active. They agree with our grassroots style of campaigning and are encouraging West Texas YCT members to block walk and phone bank for us. We appreciate the help and know that it takes everyone doing their part to defeat Democrat incumbents in November.”

YCT counts half-a-dozen alumni currently in the state legislature. YCT has a history of being active in the campaign process, and gives its members opportunities to gain experience in campaigning by helping candidates the organization has endorsed.

“We are proud to support Mr. Landtroop,” said Mr. McDonald. “He is a proven conservative leader who will help move Texas in the right direction.”

Landtroop added, “My Democrat opponent wants everyone to believe that he is a conservative. Having the endorsement of true conservative groups such as YCT helps set me apart as the only fiscal and social conservative in this race.”

YCT, which was founded in 1980, issues the most respected ratings of the state legislature and is the only conservative group to have done so without interruption over the last 18 legislative sessions. YCT has chapters at universities across Texas. To learn more about YCT, their legislative ratings, or their endorsements visit www.yct.org.
