The Statesman is Reporting that the City of Austin has picked an Oak at the Heart Hospital of Austin and a Persimmon in Pease Park as its 2008 winners for "Tree of the Year."  Thats right folks, Tree of the Year!  And you didn’t even know there was a contest?

Dr. Maria Felix-Ortiz had a column in the San Antonio Express News that was baffling because of its lack of logic and bad research.  Let’s take a look, shall we?

I will be in Washington, DC next weekend to attend the Americans for Prosperity Defending the American Dream Summit.

As some of you remember, I got to speak at the Texas Defending the American Dream Summit this summer.  I also got to attend the DC Summit last year where I got to meet Dinesh D’Souza, Senator John McCain and many more, in good company of fellow YCT-ers Cassie Daniel and Randy and Michele Samuelson.

One would assume that a mayor of a city would have a lot of responsibilities that he would have to address on a daily basis, especially if you are the mayor of as large of city as (let’s say) Forth Worth. One would think that there are important issues a mayor would take priority in addressing, but would you ever imagine that one of those issues would be the fashion trend of baggy pants among our youth?

Still, last Thursday, members of Young Conservatives of KU stood a hundred yards east of Wescoe Beach, trying to interest passers-by in joining their ranks. Young men handed out American flag lapel ribbons and urged people to remember the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11.
