YOUNG CONSERVATIVES OF TEXAS ENDORSE KEN PAXTON FOR
SPEAKER OF TEXAS HOUSE

Young Conservatives of Texas (YCT), the most active political youth organization in the State of Texas, has announced its endorsement of Ken Paxton for Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives.

“We are proud to endorse Representative Paxton for Speaker. He scored a 97 in our legislative rankings last session, which was the highest score attained,” said Tony McDonald, YCT Senior Vice Chairman. “We normally would have been hesitant to endorse in such a fluid Speaker’s race with potentially even more candidates entering the fray. However in this case, there is no potential candidate with a better record than Paxton.”

After the last session, YCT criticized Joe Straus for appointing liberals to chair powerful committees in the Texas House. Vice Chairman McDonald added, “While we are excited
to endorse Representative Paxton, we would certainly be happy to work with any new House Speaker who would bring true conservative leadership to the Texas House.”

“We are proud to support Representative Paxton. He is a proven champion of conservatism in Texas,” said Mr. McDonald. “It would be a true victory for conservative grassroots activists and all those who turned out to vote across the state to be rewarded with a Speaker who scores the top spot in YCT’s career ratings. He’s the best, hands down.”

YCT, which was founded in 1980, issues the most respected ratings of the state legislature and is the only conservative group to have done so without interruption over the last 18 legislative sessions. YCT has chapters at universities across Texas. To learn more about YCT, their legislative ratings, or their endorsements visit www.yct.org.
